I'm the kind of person who doesn't believe that the gay/straight question has to be an agonizing one unless it's presented that the character is the sort who might obsess over it.
Tony's not! He's got so many other things to think about.
I did want to do something where Bruce could actually enjoy himself, the other way has already really been explored and it doesn't seem like a positive emotion or connection would be so much of a danger as - well any number of other things.
