Books Read for July:
-Sherlock Holmes & the Ectoplasmic Man
-Supernatural Witch's Canyon
-Exit Sherlock Holmes
-1984

I started Passchendaele, and I'm well more than halfway through it, but I left it at work and didn't get a chance to finish it. I'll probably review these titles some other time. I slacked off majorly this month as far as reading and that sort of crap goes. I mean, I'm a little upset with myself, but I still at least did some of it and didn't totally lose myself in Harvest Moon.

Writing Stuff:

-Megaflare: Uhh, yeah let's talk about things that aren't happening for me the way I'd like them to. I'm guessing when I transcribe what I have, it'll be about 700 words max. Boy do I ever suck. I blame Inception.

Speaking of Inception, I have two, possibly three pieces in the works for it, both need need some transcription, but they're solid ideas that seem to be alternating for me. They're playing very nicely together, and teaming up to shove my Megaflare piece out on the doorstep with its toothbrush and overnight bag.

1. 'Never Have I Ever', Inception, Gen, Multiple implied pairings.

"Never have I ever," Eames begins, and he's already lifting his glass, letting this tell give him away, just a little bit. "Had sex with Dom."

He drinks. Arthur can feel the frank expression on his face even as he lifts his glass and sees - from the corner of his eye - Saito drinking also. That was fast, he thinks.

Cobb, looking neither affronted nor embarrassed, decided instead on a playful reaction. His chuckle reminded Arthur that there was still a young man in there somewhere. With half a grin, Cobb lifts his glass and tips it toward Eames in a questioning gesture.

"Oh, do I get to drink for this one?" He jokes, and it takes all the tension out of Arthur.

((Yes, [livejournal.com profile] rabbitprint, this part was added just for you.))

2. Untitled, Slash, Cobb/Arthur/Eames - started as just Arthur/Eames and evolved.

Arthur is all sharp lines, thin and straight and all business - like one of those dogs that suggests violence by their very shape. It's what they're built for, and every line, every point and whipcord muscle in them is streamlined for the purpose. Like a doberman, Arthur does not even have to scowl to be actively threatening, even when he's utterly relaxed. The potential is there, in his every dimension. Discouraging.

It was exactly the picture he wanted to produce. He could sit silent and relaxed next to Cobb, promising without ever speaking a word that the pair of them, though they were technically criminals, had a very professional and strict 'no bullshit' policy. It was a bit of a poker bluff, Eames knew. Out of the pair of them, Eames would least want to face an angry Cobb. Arthur was predictably and efficiently violent, Cobb was the sort who could get creative and vindictive if something triggered his protective instinct.

Eames knew Cobb didn't like that about himself, it was part of why the man only let himself care about things that could take care of themselves. Cobb let Arthur in, partnered with him, because by the time anything could actually hurt Arthur, the type of ferocious, wolfish over-reaction Cobb was capable of in defense would be justified. Eames was glad that he was on the man's good side, was one of the ones 'in', like Ariadne and Yusuf and even Saito now. None of them would ever be as 'in' as Arthur, because the pair of them worked like the unified front of a Magician's show.

Funny how it worked out I'm doing one from an Arthur POV and the other from Eames'. :| Ironically I think I want to spend the most time exploring Cobb, but that will have to wait.
