I cannot run out of good things to say about
katieforsythe. I have been attempting to gather words for a rec for several days now, but to say everything would be both massive and totally inadequate to describe exactly how fond of her work I am.
She has the exact voice of all of the characters down, obviously loves her subject, and is fantastically well researched into both the canon and the era. Even if you are unfamiliar with the cases, her stories provide enough detail to sustain you, and if you are the repeated ground is only just enough to place your memories back in a row in order to fully enjoy her works.
If you need a place to start, I wholeheartedly suggest
Four Minor Interludes for the Solo Violin as one of her several universes which is perhaps the one I most enjoyed (but not because her others lack the same affectionate and supremely deft touch, but because the series includes a piece set during the Great War which as we all know is one of my great weaknesses).
This is followed by a piece in Holmes' voice, Hallowed Be Thy Name, and continues in further adventures to be found in her livejournal.
Part of her work is also archived at liquidfic, and can be found here.
Don't have time to sit at your computer and read? Get yourself some Podfic of her work, read by the most excellent Jinjurly and Aethel.
So, on the whole, I suggest you read, enjoy, and fall in love. I promise you will not be disappointed!
